La Danserie is a non-profit contemporary ballet company presenting original and innovative choreography since 1997. The company showcases a chamber-sized ensemble of outstanding dancers in works that fuse, contrast and juxtapose ballet and modern idioms, putting a distinctive stamp on the Los Angeles dance scene.
La Danserie has performed throughout Los Angeles in a variety of venues including Highways Performance Space, the Los Angeles Theater Center, the Madrid Theater, California State University Northridge Plaza del Sol Performance Hall, the Aratani Japan-America Theater, Moorpark College and the Unknown Theater.
La Danserie has an active school outreach program with 2011-2012 programs partially supported by the Los Angeles City Department of Cultural Affairs.
The company receives additional support from the Los Angeles County Arts Commission and from Friends of La Danserie.
MISSION
La Danserie is a contemporary Ballet company whose mission is to support and advance the art of dance. The company is guided by the belief that dance can act as a universal language to facilitate understanding among people of diverse cultures and backgrounds. The company further believes that dance has a tremendous potential to positively impact through an embodiment of positive values, including self respect, team work, and persistence.
